Bartel Family Photo's Some of the earliest photo's I have are of Herman (Carl) Bartel and Amilia Bartel, my father's grand parents. Herman's given name was Carl, as indicated on official papers, at some point after he left the German Army in 1879 he took the name of Herman. The Bartel Family settled in Dakota Wisconsin and lived the farm life of many immigrants of the time.
